Safe Haven operates a Clothing Closet and a Food Pantry. Clients who come to us for food or clothing are referred by the case worker at the Ryan White local clinic. These individuals have been screened and a verified need for assistance has been established. The Clothing Closet is stocked, as is everything else at Safe Haven, from donations. Volunteers even go around to local Yard Sales asking for leftover items to be donated to the Closet.
The Food Pantry now has 6 freezers and 2 refrigerators and provides sufficient foods to prepare 15 meals twice monthly to the members of each client's household. These foods include fresh fruit and vegetables. We have found that it is necessary to provide a quantity of foods sufficient to provide 3 nutritious complete meals in the households per day to ensure that no one suffers from hunger pangs.
FINANCIAL AND "NEEDED ITEMS" ASSISTANCE:
Safe Haven also provides financial assistance for the purpose of providing shelter to individuals that, through circumstances, find themselves with no place to stay. We have a constant need for donations of large appliances in working condition, kitchen items, linens, and furniture to furnish homes.
